Can I Still Use My Fire Extinguisher After It’s Been Used?
Even if you have used your fire extinguisher only a little, it needs to be refilled immediately. You cannot plan for a fire, so call a local fire protection company for service as soon as possible after one of your extinguishers has been used.
How Long Is My Fire Extinguisher Good For?
- Check the date of manufacture – all fire extinguishers designed for commercial use will have a date of manufacture listed on the label or stamped on the canister. According to Malaysian Standards, fire extinguishers require replacement after 10 years. If your fire extinguishers are older than that (and there has not been a recent inspection by a professional), call us for inspection or replacement.
- Check for annual inspections – your fire extinguishers should be inspected and checked yearly. On the extinguisher, there should be an e-fies certificate that indicates next inspection that should be performed by a licensed company. Usually, a safety officer is designated to check the fire extinguishers to make sure that they are easily accessible and that the gauge points in the green.
- Check for required internal maintenance – internal maintenance be performed at a certain interval to ensure the integrity of the fire extinguisher. Get consultation from us regarding about the required maintenance if should perform any.
